Once In A Bright Blue Moon - lyrics

Dreaming of Colorado

I’ve been dreaming of Colorado, to see the eagles flying in the skies
Yes, I’ve been dreaming of Colorado, longing for a
Rocky Mountain High
Of those high meadows where I’ve laid with the friends that I have made
I feel that we are one big family
Yes, I’ve been dreaming of Colorado; so come and sing my songs with me

I’ve been dreaming of Colorado, of being high up in the mountains once again
Yes, I’ve been dreaming of Colorado, sharing songs and laughter with my friends
To hear a Coyote whine, feel the wind up in the pines
To hear the Aspens sing their golden song
Yes, I’ve been dreaming of Colorado, for this is where my heart belongs

There’s a longing in my heart for Colorado, there’s something about the Rocky Mountain air
To ride a trail down by the river, when I’m there I never seem to have a care
In the mountains I belong; the inspiration for my songs
Is all around me everywhere I see
Yes, I’ve been dreaming of Colorado; this is where I long to be

Colorado is more than just the mountains
Or a Red Tailed Hawk soaring through the sky
It’s the warmth and the welcome of her people
That really makes my spirit fly

I’ve been dreaming of Colorado, I know that I’ll go back some day
Thank you for coming here this evening; for wanting to hear me play
Now is the time for you and I to look each other in the eye
And share the love and the music that I bring
Yes, I’ve been dreaming of Colorado: it is where my spirit sings

The Space that Lies Between

So many times I’ve held you
So many times I’ve kissed away your tears
So many times I’ve wondered if
I’ll hold you through the years

So many times I’ve loved you
So many times I’ve made you sigh
I wonder f you understand
The tear that’s in my eye

In the space that lies between these worlds
Where morning’s out of sight
The sun is neither one of us
Love is the only light…
Love is the only light

I wonder if I’ll hold you again
I wonder when these tears will dry
I wonder if you know I love you
More than my life

Somewhere lies tomorrow
Maybe then my dreams will come true
All I know is that I’ve found
My light of love in you

Chorus....

And if I cry a million tears
It will never be enough
If I have to live this life
Alone without your love

Chorus...

Another Sunrise

From those early footprints in the sand, through all the years you held my hand
In this darkest hour I understand, why you had to go
I tried to show how much I care; I know that life was hard to bear
Now I see you everywhere, you are all I know
In all of this uncertainty
I somehow know that you are free
I can see you now, running with the wind

Chorus:

In my dreams there will always be another sunrise
Another day when the love will shine from your eyes
Another time when we will share all the beauty that you see
In my heart, you will always be with me

All the stories that you told, from boyhood days so long ago
Though I’ve heard them all before you know, they are always in my heart
I long to hear your voice again, telling me those tales of when
The sunshine was your dearest friend, and you slept beneath the stars
And every river you have crossed
And every road where we got lost
Are simply golden memories for me

Chorus...

I will always keep you near; I’ll take you with me through the years
When I think of you I’ll laugh more than I’ll ever shed a tear
And every beach I’ll walk with you, and every day I’ll talk with you
I’ll tell you all my stories too, if you lend a willing ear
And someday in another land,
We’ll stand together, hand in hand
And once again go running with the wind

Chorus...

And every night, you’ll always be the first name in my prayers
And I’ll thank the Lord for the love that we have shared

Chorus...

In my dreams there will always be another sunrise
Another day when the love will shine from your eyes
Another time when we will share all this beauty that I see
In my heart, you will always be with me
In my heart, you will always be with me

Golden Tears

The sun goes down upon my dreams
On the days of roses and wine
Strawberry fields are empty; the leaves begin to fall
It’s part of the great design
No longer warm upon my face
The wind sings its ancient song
Of the coming of the winter for trees and men
Of the hearts that must be strong

Golden tears are rolling down our dear Mother’s face
I’m haunted by the memory of another lost embrace
If I could have one wish that would come true before I die
I’d make those golden tears run dry

The fire has left the evening skies
A chill grows across the land
I have cried many tears and closed my eyes
Now at last I understand
What is my song? Look in my eyes
Too old for Mommy’s lullabies
I miss my Dad  is that so wrong?
But I know they hear my songs

Chorus...

A quiet breath, a gentle sigh
The Autumn leaves take flight
These golden tears are swirling down
In the early morning light
This guitar is my best friend
Together we have sung to the stars
It is the soothing whisper to my troubled mind
It follows each beat of my heart

Chorus...

Life, Death, a short breath;
Poppies falling from the sky
The circle of the seasons
Another teardrop in my eye

Chorus...

Hard Rain

For twenty-five years, I’ve watched the world go round
Lovers come and go, sometimes without a sound
I don’t know why but somehow I know
I will leave this life alone

Lovers all around me; they’ve got it right
They won’t be lonely on this dark and rainy night
A gentle soul
A hand to hold
A body to warm me through the cold

A hard rain is coming down, washing with my tears
I’ve been living with this broken heart for just too many years
The stars, my dreams, are fading out of sight
Here in the mountains tonight

I’m always sorry, never sorry for myself
Yet they will always find somebody else
And I’m the one who loses again
Will this sadness never end?

I guess it’s time I opened up my eyes
And kissed the rain that’s falling from these stormy skies
It is my friend
Until the end
On the rain I can depend

A hard rain is coming down, washing with my tears
I’ve been living with this broken heart for just too many years
The stars, my dreams, are fading out of sight
Here in the mountains tonight

I need a friend
Until the end
A love on which my heart can depend

A hard rain is coming down, washing with my tears
I’ve been living with this broken heart for just too many years
The stars, my dreams, are fading out of sight
Here in the mountains tonight

Where is my love?
Where are my dreams?
Far away from me
Far away
From me

Peace in My Heart

I’ve been living my life without rhyme or reason
All of my days, and too many nights
Now in this dawn, with the changing seasons
I think I’ve seen the light
Love is the answer, the only way
To leave all the pain behind
If I keep going nowhere, and living like this
I’ll surely go out of my mind

Peace in my heart is all I long for
To lay me down under restful skies
To live in a place of light and freedom
Where I can close my eyes

I so love the warmth of a summer evening
The chill in the air as the sun goes down
As the last rays of daylight are softly leaving
And peace is all around
The cloak of the darkness, the light of the stars
The whisper of an owl on the wing
In this beautiful moment, with these wonderful memories
My spirit is starting to sing

Chorus...

In this quiet tranquillity I perceive
The man that I can be
I know in my heart, it’s as sure as the stars
My life is up to me

Chorus...

All My Tomorrows

Look in my eyes, what do you see?
All of the man I’m longing to be
This time, my heart will be free
When I look in your eyes I can see there’s a light
Like a star in the heavens that’s shining so brightly
And I long to hold you every night

And give you...

All of my laughter and all my tears
All of my passion for all of my years
And I will love you so
For all my tomorrows

Everywhere that I go I am seeing the signs
That life is just a grand design
So…
Put you hand in mine
You can read every book, you can look to the skies
You can search for a prophet, ancient and wise
But the answer
Is in my eyes

And it is....

All of my laughter and all my tears
All of my passion for all of my years
And I will love you so
For all my tomorrows

And though you have been with me through the years
Life is never really what it seems
My spirit has been hoping, but my heart is filled with fear
Yet could it be you’re more than just a dream?

So here is...

All of my laughter and all my tears
All of my passion for all of my years
And I will love you so
For all my tomorrows

So give me...

All of your laughter and all your tears
All of your passion for all of your years
And our love may grow
For all our tomorrows

Near Midnight

Near midnight, I am alone
Only this guitar hears me cry
Near midnight, longing for home
And the look that’s in your eyes
Only now, things are different
I see the way to reach the light
In my dreams, I’m in your arms
Loving you tonight

Sleep my love; know that I am near
I will keep your body warm
If you are afraid I will kiss away your tears
I will hold you through the storm

Near midnight, my heart’s growing cold
The sands of time are passing by
Know this truth: I can’t grow old
Without you by my side
It’s not a dream; this is forever
I’m the only man who’ll make you sigh
Take my hand and walk with me
Into the light

Chorus...

Somehow I know with total certainty, our future’s written in the stars
So hold me close, let’s feel together the beating of our hearts

Near midnight, someday when
The angels come to take me home
I want you there, holding me
I don’t want to die alone
And when it’s time for you to join me
I’ll be waiting on the other side
And we will fly for evermore
High in Heaven’s skies

Chorus...

It’s near midnight and I promise you
I will hold you through the storm

An Ordinary Man

Standing in this lonely place
Gazing at the different faces here
My life is in your hands
With strings and voice I tell these tales
Of love and life and all its failings
But I am just an ordinary man

In this space I share with you
Our different lives and points of view
Music is the bridge on which we stand
In this old guitar here in my hands
Live all my dreams and all my plans
But I am just an ordinary man

Sometimes I think I’ll lay me down
Then a song just hangs around
Like an old friend, seeking shelter for the night
I’m surrounded by the souls of those
Whose stories simply must be told
And the music will lead them to the light

In this space I share with you
Our different lives and points of view
Music is the bridge on which we stand
In this old guitar here in my hands
Live all my dreams and all my plans
But I am just an ordinary man

I live my life, I sing my songs
Rejoice the rights, regret the wrongs
On this journey from darkness into light
We are not so different, you and I
We live and love, ad then we die
We need someone to hold us through the night

I am the patron saint of all of the lost cause in my life
Sometimes I wish I had a heart as cold as ice
But when I breathe life into a love song in the morning light
I know this pain is my sacrifice

And in this space I share with you
Our different lives and points of view
Music is the bridge on which we stand
In this old guitar here in my hands
Live all my dreams and all my plans
But I am just an ordinary man

Where the Waves Kiss the Shore

Where the waves kiss the shore, and time blows through my dreams
I wonder when the peace will come
Never, it seems
I see her standing there; such a light upon her face
In my heart’s this overwhelming feeling
Of Holy grace

On this day, in the sun, God was by my side
I believed I could live forever
All my tears were cried
Lying here on the sand, the wind is in my hair
And as I look into her eyes
I do not have a care

And she is walking by my side
And I’ll have peace for evermore
But I know I’ll never lie again
Where the waves kiss the shore

The ocean sounds, her hand in mine, the sunlight on the waves
I hear their voices praising me
They say I was so brave
I turn around to see my friends; I feel her squeeze my hand
They’re standing and their heads are bowed
Where I am lying on the sand

And though I’m standing by her side
And I’ll have peace for evermore
I know I’ll never lie again
Where the waves kiss the shore

And then I know this is an angel - right here by my side
And when I look I see that we are soaring through the skies

On Juno’s sands, in the dawn, in 1944
A bullet took my dreams away
Where the ocean kissed the shore
I’ll never know, I’ll never share, the things my children see
So brothers of the world LISTEN
Strive to live in peace

For though I’m standing by her side
And I’ll have peace for evermore
I know I’ll never lie again
Where the waves kiss the shore

Where the waves kiss the shore

All That You Need to Know

You’ve been on a journey, through waters so wild
Now you see life through the eyes of a child
Welcome, small angel, so meek and so mild
Your journey has just begun

You’ll have so many chances and so many dances
So many ways you can go
But your daddy’s love will be there for you
It’s all that you need to know

In the midst of this life we’re surrounded by death
But with you here in my arms now, I know I am blessed
Your small light from Heaven has taken my breath
And our journey has just begun

You’ll have so many chances and so many dances
So many ways you can go
But your daddy’s love will be there for you
It’s all that you need to know

Every night when you are sleeping
My heart’s lying there by your side
With every breath you are taking
With every tear that you cry

…so many chances and so many dances
So many ways you can go
But your daddy’s love will be there for you
It’s all that you need to know

Once in a Bright Blue Moon

Night has shed her dark satin wings
This pearly light finds me lying alone
Another breath, another day, another dance
But I still have this chill in my bones

Ooooooh…….

Dreams, like mist in the dawn
Are fading now from my mind
Making love in the heat of the night
Another wild hallucination of time

Ooooooh…….

Take my hand and dance with me now
The song of life is a simple tune
One will only find a love like this
Once in a bright blue moon

This river, so wide and so strong
This love, so deep and so true
It’s a long, long journey from here
Into a night so cold and so blue

Ooooooh…….

‘Neath my feet, this bridge is on fire
But these flames are not warming my soul
How I wish, through this smoke in my eyes
On your wings I could fly away home

Chorus...

I am losing sense of time
Losing sense of mind
Maybe I would find myself
If I leave the past behind

Oooooooh……

Take my hand and dance with me now
The song of life is a simple tune
One will only find a love like this
Once in a bright blue moon...

Once in a bright blue moon...

Once in a bright blue moon

Flying with Eagles

In the back of my mind it feels like September
This rain in my heart is surprisingly cold
I search for a song in the long night before me
So much of my story has yet to be told
Far from the city, the voices are calling
I feel that the spirit is bringing me home
High in the sky, on the wild wings of freedom
In the mountains I know I am never alone

In my quiet times I find the way that I can soothe my mind
Is to see myself on golden wings, dancing with the wind

I am chasing rainbows and flying with eagles
Soaring across the mountain skies
When I close my eyes I am flying with eagles
Living the dream that’s in my mind

The wind through the trees, the forest is singing
An anthem for all that is wild and free
I take to the skies; there is sun on the snow line
I know that there’s nowhere that I’d rather be
I ride on a thermal, the earth far below me
I feel I could reach right up to the stars
On the wings of an eagle my spirit is flying
As I lie here alone with the beat of my heart

The rushing wind beneath my wings
Takes me high up where the angels sing
In the mirror of this mountain lake
I can see our Father’s face

Chorus...

Somewhere in the space that lies
Above the earth, beneath the skies
As my earthly body slowly dies
My restless spirit flies

Chorus ...

Repeat chorus
